About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Senior Azure Engineer to lead the design, automation, and security of enterprise cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. This remote role provides senior-level engineering expertise and supports mission programs by delivering scalable cloud infrastructure, enhancing DevSecOps capabilities, and enabling AI and data science proof-of-concepts across customer environments. The Senior Azure Engineer ensures the reliability, performance, and security of Azure platforms while contributing to modernization and cloud transformation initiatives. Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of Azure cloud engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML workloads, including Azure ML, Databricks, and model deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience designing and securing Azure cloud environments at scale.
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps automation, CI/CD pipelines, and security-by-design principles, including Git-based version control tools.
  • Experience with IaC frameworks such as Bicep, ARM, or iTerraform.
  • Understanding of multi-cloud concepts and AWS/GCP service equivalents.
  • Hands-on experience Linux and Windows Server administration.
  • Hands-on scripting experince in PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with networking, including VNets, DNS, routing, private endpoints, firewalls.
  • Experienced with containers and orchestration, including Docker and AKS.
  • Experience with key Azure services including: Entra ID, Blob Storage, Azure DNS, VMs, ACR, Functions, Azure Monitor,
  • At least one active Azure certification, including Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure Administrator (AZ-104), and/or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with: Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
  • Active Security+, CySA+, and/or CCSP certification(s)
  • Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering, deployment, and optimization of Azure cloud infrastructure across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services.
  • Support data scientists and AI teams in developing and operationalizing AI proof-of-concepts using Azure ML, Azure OpenAI, and Azure Databricks.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Bicep, ARM templates, and Terraform for consistent and automated deployments.
  • Migrate existing cloud resources into IaC frameworks before promotion into higher environments, ensuring version control, automated testing, and policy compliance.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices including automated security scanning, configuration compliance, and policy enforcement in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Engineer Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, AKS, monitoring, and governance components.
  • Integrate SaaS platforms securely with Azure, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, engineering documentation, and technical recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging Azure services, AI capabilities, and multi-cloud tooling; provide adoption guidance.
  • Contribute to cloud standards, engineering patterns, and modernization roadmaps.
