About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS DevOps and Network Engineer to lead the migration of our PECOS O&M from an on-premises data center to a CMS Hybrid cloud environment using AWS solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps practices, cloud networking, and infrastructure management, with a focus on scalability, operational efficiency, automation, security, and performance optimization. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of experience with AWS migration, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or Network Engineer, with a strong understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like Jenkins, Terraform, and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with networking concepts and cloud networking solutions, including VPC, VPN, and Direct Connect.
  • Familiarity with Java-based applications and related technologies such as Java 8, Struts, and Oracle databases.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • DevOps Implementation: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and AWS CodePipeline to automate the deployment and integration processes.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and management, ensuring consistency and scalability.
  • Cloud Networking: Design and manage cloud networking solutions using Amazon VPC, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity across AWS services and on-premises systems.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Implement monitoring and logging solutions using Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Splunk to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices for AWS security, including IAM roles, Security Groups, and AWS WAF configurations.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and reduce latency across the cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and support for the PECOS system in the AWS environment.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of DevOps processes and network configurations. Provide training and support to team members on best practices and new technologies.
