About The Position

Provides Diversion/Discipline Consultation Services; Administers the Lawyer Regulation Practice and Professionalism Enhancement Program (PPEP).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and a Florida Bar Member in Good Standing.
  • Three (3) years legal experience as an attorney.
  • Law office management principles, techniques, and best practices including law firm economics; financial management and reporting; trust accounting; human resources management and recruiting; communications; paralegal utilization guidelines; facilities management; records information management; marketing; technology management; legal research methods and library management; structure and governance of law offices and law firms; law firm retreat planning, law firm start-ups, mergers, acquisitions and dissolutions, and general law office management.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts court-ordered discipline and diversion consultations throughout the state, on all aspects of law practice management and prepares comprehensive reports on these administrative management consultations. This responsibility frequently includes handling highly confidential information relative to the review of law firm financial and other business records, trust accounts, conflict avoidance systems, calendaring systems, and other internal management information.
  • Administers the Lawyer Regulation Practice and Professionalism Enhancement Program (PPEP) which includes oversight over PPEP implementation; scheduling, and attending, Ethics School and other bar workshops; updating presentations and written materials; monitoring files for attorney compliance with diversion requirements; handling of noncompliance and HQ order to show cause matters.
  • Researches, reviews and maintains familiarity with a wide variety of new information relating to law practice management, including new Bar rules, ethics opinions and professionalism information, new data on technology, marketing, case management, law firm economics, records information management, and general law office management. This is accomplished through an on-going combination of reading, polling sources, course attendance, and maintaining an active network of professional resources in the legal marketplace, and beyond including but not limited to The Association of Legal Administrators, Paralegal Association of Florida, Society for Human Resource Management, and Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
  • Develops and produces, from within departmental resources, useful products such as checklists, forms, and presentations relating to law practice management enhancement for the benefit of Florida Bar members. Serves as a speaker at Bar-sponsored events (e.g., practice enhancement events, and diversion programs).
