About The Position

As a trusted national architecture/engineering/construction consulting firm, Marx Okubo works with real estate owners, investors and lenders—at every point of the property lifecycle—to evaluate their building projects, solve complex challenges and implement tailored solutions. We're building our project team in Denver, seeking a Senior Associate, Registered Architect with a wealth of knowledge related to building enclosures, structures, and systems. Our work covers most commercial building types, including office, retail, industrial, hotel/hospitality, and multi-family; focus on industrial and commercial (office, high rise multifamily) structure. A Senior Associate is a registered Professional Architect and is responsible for understanding all aspects of a project relative to its scope, technical accuracy, potential risk, and client requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in architecture or related field required
  • Minimum 15 years' industry related experience at an architecture, engineering or construction company
  • Registered as a Professional Architect in Colorado
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High-level organizational, time management, communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills and initiative
  • Strong technical skills in commercial construction a must, including regional code and building enclosure knowledge
  • Construction administration experience
  • Technical level of understanding of building types in order to perform services of the organization with limited supervision
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, sequence, and activities
  • Solid understanding of building materials and methods and building types
  • Knowledge of construction contract types and forms
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% in and out of state

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Revit
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (FFHA and ADA) a plus
  • Forensic experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical team member and project lead
  • Collaborate with the client, internal team, consultants and site contact
  • Assume responsibility for an overall understanding of assigned projects
  • Review and analyze building construction and condition
  • Review and analyze contract documents including drawings, specifications, contracts and budgets
  • Perform building evaluations and construction monitoring
  • Prepare detailed formal reports (deliverables) in an organized and timely manner
  • Build relationships and develop business
  • Travel to sites as needed locally and regionally (25-50%)
