The Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) business provides differentiated value, extraordinary service, and unrivaled expertise to Card Members across 22 markets seeking leisure or business travel, as well as a variety of lifestyle and concierge services. The Digital Lounge Services team sits at the intersection of premium Card Member experiences and operational excellence supporting the Global Lounge Collection. We design and build digital products that power the end-to-end lounge journey - from discovery and waitlist experiences to agent-facing tools used inside our lounges, to internal dashboards that enable data-driven decision-making. Within this team, the Product Design function plays a critical role in shaping thoughtful, seamless, and visually refined experiences across platforms (responsive web, iOS, Android, and iPadOS). Designers partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Business to ensure we are solving the right problems - grounded in user research, data, and strong craft. You will join a collaborative design community at Amex that values critique, continuous learning, and raising the bar for experience quality. Overview: We are looking for a Sr. Associate - Product Designer to help craft intuitive, elegant, and scalable digital experiences across our consumer, agent-facing, and internal products. This is a mid-to-early-career role ideal for a designer who is eager to grow their craft, contribute meaningfully to shipped experiences, and develop strong product thinking within a fast-moving, cross-functional team. The ideal candidate will be a curious designer who combines strong visual craft and critical thinking with a willingness to challenge assumptions and back ideas with research, prototypes, and clear communication.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in UX / Product Design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process (problem framing → research → ideation → prototyping → shipped outcome).
  • Demonstrated ability to balance creative thinking with technical and business constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to craft, ensuring designs are polished, consistent, and thoughtfully executed across interactions and visual elements.
  • Strong critical thinking skills; comfortable questioning assumptions and proposing alternative approaches.
  • Experience leading user research or a strong willingness to learn and develop research capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and seek feedback proactively.
  • Must be based in New York and able to work in a hybrid model, 3 days per week in the office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present ideas clearly and succinctly.
  • Good understanding of platform conventions and design patterns across responsive web, iPadOS, iOS, and Android.
  • Understanding of visual design, particularly for responsive web and mobile experiences (grids, spacing, typography, hierarchy, color).
  • Comfort prototyping interactions and motion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in product or UX design, preferably in a digital product environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create user-centered experiences by delivering artifacts such as user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity specifications across web, mobile (iOS & Android), and iPadOS.

  • Design for a range of products including: Consumer experiences (Lounge Finder, Waitlist, Centurion New York) Agent-facing iPad app (LoungeOS) Internal analytics dashboards and operational tools
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Design Leads to define problems, explore solutions, and deliver high-quality experiences within technical and business constraints.

  • Present design work clearly and succinctly to cross-functional partners and stakeholders; articulate trade-offs and rationale with confidence.
  • Challenge the status quo with thoughtful, evidence-based recommendations rather than defaulting to existing patterns.
  • Rapidly ideate and prototype solutions in both low- and high-fidelity formats, demonstrating a “show, don’t tell” approach.
