About The Position

Ed Trust seeks a Senior Associate, Development on our national Development team. The Sr. Associate will join a staff committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds. The Senior Associate, Development manages a portfolio of EdTrust funding priorities, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, in coordination with Director and Chief Development Officer. The Senior Associate plays a critical role on the Development team and liaising across departments, helping EdTrust achieve the financial resources necessary to realize our mission. The Education Trust (Ed Trust) is comprised of fierce advocates for the high academic achievement of all students — pre-kindergarten through college, particularly those of color or living in poverty. Through research and advocacy, Ed Trust’s goal is to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that affect millions of young people across the U.S. — especially students of color and those from low-income families. We work alongside educators, policymakers, parents, and community and business leaders across the country to advocate transforming schools and colleges into institutions that serve all students well. Lessons learned in these efforts, together with unflinching data analyses, help shape our state and national policy agendas. This role, available immediately, is based in our Washington, DC office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days per week per our current policy. The Senior Associate, Development reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Requirements

  • ABachelor’sdegree
  • Some (e.g., at least4years)experience in nonprofit fundraising, includingsignificant experiencewith grant writingandreporting
  • Prior work experienceinaneducation-related organization; knowledge of education equity and/or policy a plus
  • Significant experiencewith Salesforce or other similar CRM

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of funding priorities and execute the grant application and reporting processes including, but not limited to, proposal and report writing, budget development, quality assurance, and timely submission for assigned area.
  • Produce materials such as concept papers, proposals, reports, orcasefor support in conjunction with program staff and subject matter experts.
  • Coordinatewith Director andChief Development Officeron funder relationship management activities including phone calls, correspondence, mailings, and meetings with donors and their representatives, engaging key Ed Trust team members asappropriate.
  • Monitor and grow a grant prospect list to support assigned funding priorities.
  • Contribute to and leverage donor database (Salesforce) andgrantsmanagement software (Sage Intacct) to effectively track and improve funder engagement.
  • Support Chief Development Officer in promoting a culture of philanthropy through high-quality and engaging fundraising training for staff.
  • Keep abreast of Ed Trust’s policy positions and research, as well as best practices in fundraising and donor database management.
