About The Position

Under general direction of the Planning Manager, participates in short- and long-term planning projects pertaining to all aspects of the airport. Will be required to apply Airport Planning principles to analyze strategic plan components in support of the Airport’s Strategic Growth and Business Plan. Additionally, responsible for conducting/managing planning studies, as well as representing the Airport on planning related matters. May coordinate with and/or serve as the Airport liaison to local, state, and federal agencies. (FAA, TXDOT, NCTCOG, DART, and Trinity Metro, Owner City and Host City Planning Departments) What you will be doing: Analyzes airport roadway access, terminal curbsides, and parking facilities. Reviews capacity of these components and identifies opportunities for improvements and/or the need to expand airport infrastructure. Conducts project feasibility studies, develops conceptual plans and layouts, evaluates alternatives and prepares cost estimates for airport and airline infrastructure and related facilities. Reviews Airport Board and tenant-initiated projects to ensure compatibility with Airport Master Plan and airport land use policies. Participates in the development and preparation of updates to the Infrastructure Capital Program. Reviews of airport development projects compared with FAA, FHWA, and TxDOT guidelines and Airport design standards. Supports department in executing planning studies. Works with consultants conducting short- and long-range airport planning studies; develops study design and schedule; supervises and monitors study progress. Responds to telephone and written inquiries from other departments, developers, tenants, special interest groups and the public regarding planning projects. Draft submittals, letters, position papers and reports related to planning projects. Ensures environmental aspects and impacts within the span of control of your position are identified and timely communicate applicable personnel and operational changes to Environmental Affairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in , Civil Engineering, Business Aviation Administration, Aviation Planning, Urban or City and Regional Planning, Transportation planning, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in airport planning and development.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Knowledge of airport planning principles and design standards.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to airport development.
  • Knowledge of the principles of urban planning and zoning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers.
  • Ability to direct and oversee the work of others and to assess work product.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write project and development justification to support DFW Grants pursual plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as NSPE Engineer-In-Training (EIT), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), AAAE Certified Member (CM), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
