The Senior Assembler position at Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics' Sensors Center of Excellence in Largo, FL, is responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards. This role focuses on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget. The Senior Assembler will work under minimal supervision on frequently non-routine duties and tasks, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment as needed. They may perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in specified processes and procedures, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals. The position involves advanced-level assembly functions, including prep, mechanical, harness, cable, printed circuit board sub-assemblies, spray application, and inspection, often working from models and/or drawings within Production. It may also involve soldering and component installation to contract specifications using various tools and equipment. The Senior Assembler is expected to interpret blueprints, Process Flow Instructions, and other written or verbal instructions, and must be trained across all assembly stages, working with Engineering to build first articles by interpreting prints/specifications without provided processes, and interpreting/assembling all units in the department. If required, they will perform all aspects of inspection: in-process, final, and source.
