We are currently seeking a Senior Architect to work with our Federal Client; this position is on-site and will be integral to the services we provide to the customer in Washington, D.C. Requirements

  • BS degree in architecture is required, master’s degree in a similar discipline, preferred.
  • Must have experience with the most current version of AutoCAD software and must have current knowledge of and relevant experience in workspace design, especially as it relates to the health and welfare of building occupants
  • Must have the ability to pass client-required training course once on-site.
  • Must have at least 8 years of successful commercial/government office building design and construction experience.
  • Must have knowledge on recent versions of the International Building Code and Commentary (IBC), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and all pertinent federal accessibility standards.
  • Must have proficiency in the use of Microsoft’s Word, Excel, Power Point, Project software tools and well as AutoCAD.
  • Must exhibit professionalism, good customer service and communication skills.
  • Must hold a Top-Secret Security Clearance or have a Secret Clearance with the ability to quickly obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.

  • Register Architect is preferred, also prefer PMP certification

Responsibilities

  • Act as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for federal construction projects.
  • Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements.
  • Prepare stacking plans to accommodate functionality and adjacency requirements.
  • Prepare blocking plans, schematic or conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Ensure drawings comply with our federal client’s Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards.
  • Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.
  • Ensure drawings and specifications which are submitted to the federal client for review comply with POR requirements.
  • Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post occupancy. Includes building and maintaining relationships with end users, local team, subject matter experts, etc.
  • Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing and answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports.
  • Coordinate with peer colleagues, Project Managers, customers and other personnel/contractors, and other project team members on projects as necessary.
  • Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and federal agency clients.
  • Understand and be able to implement standards as outlined in the POR, Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards. Suggest edits or updates to these documents, as applicable.
  • Develop, prepare and submit weekly work logs and monthly status reports documenting the execution of work in those periods for submission to the Government.
  • This position is entirely in-person with a physical presence required on site within Federal facilities located in Washington DC.
