About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Apigee Engineer with deep expertise ( 7 + years) in Apigee X and ( 5 + Years ) Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, develop, and manage our high-scale API ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex backend services and seamless digital experiences, ensuring our integrations are secure, resilient, and highly observable. As a Senior Engineer, you won't just be "plugging things in." You will be architecting the traffic patterns and security protocols that define how our data moves.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of API development and integration experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Core API Experience
  • Advanced REST Design: Deep understanding of resource modeling and API lifecycle management.
  • Security Protocols: Expert-level knowledge of token flows, encryption, and gateway security policies.
  • Resiliency Patterns: Proven experience with circuit breakers, rate limiting, and sophisticated error handling.
  • API Management: Apigee X (Gateway, Proxies, Shared Flows, Quotas)
  • Languages: Python, JavaScript (for Apigee policies), and SQL
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (Pub/Sub, Spanner, BigQuery, Cloud Functions)
  • Version Control: Bitbucket / Git

Nice To Haves

  • Deployment: Experience with Harness for CI/CD API promotion.
  • Monitoring: Experience with Dynatrace or Looker for analytics and reporting.
  • Hybrid Integration: Previous exposure to MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.

Responsibilities

  • API Architecture & Development: Design and implement high-performance RESTful APIs using Apigee X, focusing on scalability, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Secure Integration: Implement robust security frameworks, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and custom scopes, ensuring strict Authorization and Authentication across all touchpoints.
  • GCP Ecosystem Management: Build and maintain integrations utilizing Google Cloud Platform Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Spanner, and BigQuery.
  • Reliability Engineering: Develop advanced error-handling strategies, retry logic, and idempotency controls to maintain 24/7 API availability.
  • Observability: Configure comprehensive logging, metrics, and tracing to proactively debug and support APIs in production environments.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Support the API lifecycle through Bitbucket/Git and collaborate on deployment automation (Harness/CI/CD).

Benefits

  • The salary range for this role is $115,000 -$172,800 and is based on experience and qualifications.
  • Certain roles are eligible for annual bonus and may include equity. These awards are allocated based on company and individual performance.
