The Orange County Animal Services Department has an opening for a Senior Animal Control Officer.The work is primarily responsible for overseeing and participating in the enforcement of laws concerning the care and treatment of animals, to protect and rescue domesticated animals, and maintain public health standards. An employee in this class has the responsibility of overseeing and leading the work and activities of Animal Control Officers (ACO), Community Outreach and Education programs in the community and serving as the Lead Cruelty Investigator. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Animal Control Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs. This classification is distinguished from Animal Control Officer based on the complexity of case assignments and acting as lead to ACO staff. Supervision over others is not required of this position. Position does related work as required. This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. SBIBackground Check with fingerprints is required.Fitness for Duty Assessment is required.
