WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): Provide guidance, information, and advice to Red Cross operations (Humanitarian, Training Services, and Biomedical Services) concerning risk assessment and controls to mitigate risk arising from various programs and activities. Review various contracts and agreements for insurance and risk transfer provisions. Work closely with operating units, management at varying levels, insurance broker and any or all vendors who support the risk management program. Ensure the appropriate issuance of insurance certificates and other insurance documentation in support of business needs, as assigned, focusing on units in assigned geographic area of responsibility. Provide risk management support to Supply Management, the Office of General Counsel, and all Red Cross business units. Assist in the review and analysis of insurance and risk management programs with vendors and other outside parties for effectiveness of coverage, reduction of costs, and losses. Compile findings and analyze data for reports. Assist with risk finance tasks as assigned. Review and prepare updates of Risk Management publications and other communications as assigned on a project basis. Assist with the collection of exposure data for insurance policy renewal marketing, utilizing a risk management information system as well as collection of data from other sources within the Red Cross. Use spreadsheet applications to more efficiently maintain data pertaining to specific areas of responsibility. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least seven years of experience in the commercial insurance industry or a corporate risk management department.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management concepts, commercial property/liability coverages and common risk transfer arrangements between organizations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
  • Highly proficient in communicating, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated, proven communication, customer service and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a remote fast-paced, changing environment juggling multiple priorities.
  • Operational flexibility required to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business administration.
  • A professional designation in insurance (CPCU) or risk management (ARM) desirable.
