Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is seeking an Analyst to support our Energy Supply- Fuels Management team. Fuels Management is responsible for the procurement and delivery of heavy and light fuel oils, coal, biomass, and natural gas for GRU generating units; purchasing environmental commodities such as pebble lime, urea, ammonia, and sodium bicarbonate; and marketing/selling combustion byproducts including fly ash, bottom ash, and scrubber waste. The Analyst, Senior serves as the department’s Biomass Plant Analyst, while also providing cross-coverage to other analysts and participating in technical and economic analyses across multiple fuel and commodity portfolios. This position reports to the GRU Fuels Manager. In this role, you will support three critical areas: fuel procurement and cost analysis, fuel inventory and supply management, and regulatory compliance and reporting. You’ll build and maintain data files, develop forecasts and performance summaries, evaluate purchasing and inventory activity, and translate complex findings into clear recommendations using dashboards, charts, and concise presentations. You’ll also collaborate across departments and with external suppliers, consultants, and contractors to solve complex problems and improve processes. Successful candidates bring strong proficiency in Excel or comparable data tools, excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience or knowledge in energy/fuel markets, economic/financial analysis, risk management or hedging concepts, fuel supply agreements, commodity solicitations, natural gas pipeline nominations/scheduling, fuel cost accounting, and basic power generation/fuel combustion is highly valued. Candidates who are organized, collaborative, and effective in team-based problem solving, often requiring input from multiple levels within GRU, will thrive. Candidates with at least two (2) years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply. The position may also be under filled as an Analyst ($52,000.00 - $84,052.14 annually). The Analyst position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, and two (2) years of experience in financial, operational or fuels analysis, or six (6) years of related analytical experience (with no degree), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
