Aon’s Ratings Advisory team provides customized support to clients for all their rating agency needs, including capital modeling, profitability analysis, peer benchmarking, and strategic positioning for the most optimal rating outcome. The team is part of Aon’s Capital Advisory group, a firm-wide joint venture that combines expertise across various Aon disciplines including Ratings Advisory, Corporate Finance, and Structured Reinsurance. The goal of the Capital Advisory group is to provide objective and tailored holistic advice on the capital supporting clients’ business and how it can be optimized and be most efficiently utilized. What the day will look like The Senior Analyst will focus on Rating Advisory support, advising reinsurance clients on financial strength ratings, capital structuring, and balance-sheet and rating optimization. The colleague will assist more senior members of the team with external client advisory, supporting clients with navigating the rating agency implications of different capital decisions, strategic transactions, and methodology updates. The colleague will interact with both internal client teams as well as clients directly. The colleague will assist with the preparation of presentation materials, capital models, and credit insights for client rating agency interactions. The colleague will be expected to work alongside other Capital Advisory functions with the goal of growing client relationships. The individual will work in a team environment in a variety of tasks, including: Rating Agency Capital Modeling – Provide rating advisory support using rating agency capital models and company’s financial statements and forecasts Rating Agency Presentation Development – Prepare analytical summaries and exhibits that highlight client strengths through the lens of rating agency criteria/methodology; proactively identifying alternative ideas and solutions to meet client goals Rating Analysis – Perform data-driven analysis of (re)insurer data, identifying trends, sensitivities, and key credit risks relevant to rating agency assessments Special Projects – Contribute to special projects that require collaboration across Aon and participate in developing Thought Leadership content to further Aon’s market presence Industry Research – Track (re)insurance industry trends and translate that information into insights that aid client recommendations Client Relationships – Build internal relationships within Aon and become a direct point of contact for Aon clients

Requirements

  • 2+ years of insurance industry experience
  • Understanding of insurance company financials, capital adequacy, and rating agency frameworks/criteria/methodologies from a credit analyst lens
  • Experience with industry databases, such as S&P Capital IQ/Global Market Intelligence/SNL and/or BestLink
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience with data analysis and research concepts
  • Focused, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills, client management and communication capabilities
  • Excellent presentation skills with ability to synthesize content from multiple sources
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a client-facing environment
  • Self-directed with experience managing multiple, concurrent projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior rating agency experience is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of insurance STAT and GAAP accounting concepts is a plus
  • Progress towards CPA, CFA, or similar is a plus

Responsibilities
