As the state’s largest and longest-serving energy provider, our more than 6,000 dedicated employees power our vision of creating a sustainable energy future for Arizona.SummaryThe Senior Analyst - Power Contract Services is responsible for providing expertise and consultation in the analysis, evaluation, development, negotiation and drafting of the company's energy contract portfolio throughout the contract lifecycle. Acts as a liaison between APS and third parties, critically reviewing and analyzing contract payment terms, scope of work, and other appendices to identify legal and drafting issues, as well as potential impacts on operations or business unit needs. Provides oversight on contracts' status, milestones, financial aspects, and compliance, while fostering relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure contract compliance and improvement.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in business, economics, mathematics, contract administration, supply chain management, business law or other job-related field
  • Plus five (5) years of utility experience including experience involving commercial contracting for procurement of goods and services or related transactions.
  • In lieu of degree nine (9) years of utility experience including some contract and/or transmission system knowledge.
  • An advanced degree including a JD may be substituted for two (2) years' experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing contract terms and conditions, negotiating contracts, and managing strong vendor relationships.
  • Broad familiarity of FERC regulatory requirements and APS jurisdictional agreements.
  • Organization, project management, communication and negotiation skills are essential.
  • Analytical abilities to perform regulatory analysis and contract negotiations/development as well as the ability to act independently.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, track, and manage contracts within the companys contract management system. and work in collaboration with internal stakeholders that support APS's corporate strategy, goals and objectives with participation of the appropriate groups or departments.
  • Draft, negotiate, execute and manage all major power purchase agreements (i.e. wind, solar, biomass, energy storage and natural gas power generation) and third-party transmission contracts.)
  • Facilitate consents, amendments, estoppels, force majeure events, notice letter drafting and response, and other aspects of existing PPAs.
  • Validate WECC Reporting, update Contract Appendices in the original executed PPA, and prepare annual reports for internal departments.
  • Manage data organization and extraction from contracts for comprehensive analysis and reporting. Secure necessary approvals for contracts and amendments, maintain documentation standards, and ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Effectively interface and resolve project issues within APS, executive management, and customers to meet project requirements. Monitor and report on contracts' status, milestones, and prepare detailed operating reports for Management. Present to upper management and collaborate with internal teams on managing the contract portfolio.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including external teams, to ensure contract compliance.
  • Prepare the Transmission Budget, WAPA Forecast Reports, and confirm annual production for PPA facilities.
  • Managing special complex and subject matter expertise projects as assigned.
