About The Position

Performs administrative duties for department, administers fund accounting, grants and sponsored projects and coordinates administration of unit assisting Director. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Designs, implements, and updates unit policies and procedures maintaining current information and compliance with University and funding agencies policies and procedures. Analyzes unit costs and develops budget estimates for budget submission, approves major office purchases and coordinates renovation and other construction projects. Oversees management of Research Unit facilities and monitors preparation of annual reports. Administers grants process for unit, assisting principal investigators with applications, interprets grant guidelines, policies and regulations, reviews applications, prepares budgets and supervises budget entry into system ensuring completion and approval in timely manner. Manages and monitors grant and department funds and ensures appropriate and timely expenditures and reconciliation of funds, supervising preparation of reports when required, makes necessary changes and assists principal investigators with fund management. Oversees maintenance of personnel files, payroll authorization records and time and leave records, supervises payroll activities and personnel requisitions. Maintains visa information, monitors status communicating required action, reviews for completeness and acts as liaison with WU International Office. Hires unit support staff, ensures employee orientation and training and develops job descriptions for staff. Assists Director in Unit Administration.
