Weston is seeking a Senior Air Scientist to support scheduled and time-critical responses to site-related environmental issues, including disaster/emergency response, environmental investigations, and remedial alternative analysis. This individual will serve as a project leader, supervising junior air science professionals and technicians, and will be responsible for developing and implementing sampling/monitoring and data collection plans. Proficiency in multi-media, multi-matrix sampling techniques and associated analytical methods is essential. The Senior Air Scientist will lead a team of up to 10 junior and mid-level air scientists, providing guidance and direction while working productively in a team setting. Location: Edison, NJ U.S. Citizenship Required Expected Outcomes: Availability for nationwide emergency response, with travel up to two weeks at a time (approximately 25% annually). Calibration and maintenance of multi-media monitoring and sampling equipment. Documentation of field activities and preparation of daily and final reports. Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to operate equipment using manuals or SOPs. Project scope may include asbestos sampling, vapor intrusion sampling, soil gas sampling, drum sampling, air monitoring, and air sampling for mercury and metals. Proficient in writing technical documents and plans. Familiarity with PPE levels and ability to enter potentially hazardous areas. Technical and Operational Scope: Exercises judgment in selecting methods and approaches when standard procedures are inadequate. Determines optimal data gathering, database management, and analysis methods to meet project goals. Prepares reports on methods and procedures as part of overall project documentation. Maintains readiness for immediate mobilization. Conducts sampling techniques that yield sound scientific data for evaluation reports. Delivers completed projects, including draft and final reports, within budget and schedule. Serves as a technical expert on air monitoring and sampling in client interactions.
