About The Position

Our client base is mostly in the DoD Federal Government Contracting space and we also partner with prime Government Contractors such as Siemens, Booze Allen, McKinsey and have work in the commercial space as well. You will be joining a dynamic and highly motivated team with one goal: "Get quality and secure solutions in the customers hands as soon as possible”. Sabel Systems is seeking a highly motivated Agile Coach to lead Agile practices for our customer located in El Segundo, California. This Agile Coach will work mostly from their home during the hours of 8am-5pm pacific time. Travel will be required up to 25% per year to support the customer on-site in El Segundo, California (average on-site about 1 week of every month). The Agile Coach will help guide a team of Release Train Engineers/Scrum Masters, Atlassian Engineers, and a Jira/Confluence helpdesk technician. The Agile Coach will oversee Agile Digital Transformation progress against execution timelines and ensure the adoption of Agile Standards and Best Practices across an enterprise-level organization. In addition, the Agile Coach will help guide continuous improvement, gathering feedback, requirements, and priorities from the customer to drive efficiency, transparency, and collaboration. The Agile Coach will work with the Agile Transformation Architect to align Agile processes and practices with scalable, enterprise-wide digital transformation through the use of collaborative work management tools, such as Jira. Candidate demonstrates proven success in executing multiple enterprise-wide Agile transformations, is an expert on Agile methodologies, and is driven to meet the customer where they are to move toward lasting cultural change. Strong Project Admin experience with Jira and Confluence is required. The Agile Coach must feel comfortable configuring new Jira Scrum and Kanban boards, creating Jira issues, closing out Sprints, creating Jira Plans, and writing JQL filters. The Agile Coach must be able to work independently, train others on Agile methodologies and how to use Jira/Confluence to track work, as well as brainstorm innovative solutions with teammates via MS Teams calls, chat and email. Must be able to collaborate in person in El Segundo, California, up to 25% per year. The ideal candidate will be motivated to learn and continuously improve and grow as a team. Prior military experience or work with the Department of Defense is a plus. Minimum of Secret Clearance is required prior to start.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with an active Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS
  • Strong spoken and written English skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of Scrum Master or higher experience
  • Active Scrum Master Certification, such as Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Scrum Master, or Disciplined Agile Scrum Master
  • Proficient MS Office 365 User
  • Intermediate Project/Space Administrator Jira/Confluence skills
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies and ceremonies
  • Experience working on a Scrum or Kanban team and implementing Agile methodologies
  • Experience working on an Agile Release Train or Solution Train
  • Experience mentoring/teaching others Agile methodologies and Jira/Confluence
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to telework with clear phone and internet connectivity
  • Must travel/work onsite with customer up to 25% of the year in El Segundo, California

Nice To Haves

  • Active intermediate/advanced Scaled Agile Certification, such as Release Train Engineer or Practice/Program Consultant is a plus
  • Prior military experience or work with the Department of Defense is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead Agile ceremonies, set standards and best practices, and independently train others on establishing Agile ceremonies and best practices on Scrum or Kanban teams
  • Configure and train others on Jira Scrum and Kanban boards, creating and managing Jira issues, and creating/closing Sprints
  • Establish and align Agile ceremony cadence across the enterprise, including Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Sprint Reviews, Backlog Refinements, etc.
  • Lead Enterprise-level Agile events, such as Planning offsites and training sessions, and mentor others on how to facilitate them
  • Facilitate Agile workshops and Agile assessments to evaluate value delivery and team structure
  • Lead by example and drive cultural change through embodying an Agile mindset, while establishing and helping to enforce Business Rules and Best Practices
  • Learn how to configure Jira to ensure proper hierarchical alignment in the product roadmap
  • Must be willing/able to learn and train others on the Sabel approach to Agile and Jira/Confluence standards and best practices
  • Manage Confluence spaces, updating the Agile Knowledge Management System with new documentation, including Agile/Jira/Confluence processes, practices, and lessons learned
  • Establish and lead Scrum of Scrums, discussing and deconflicting cross-team dependencies
  • Mentor and train others how to link Jira issues together to identify dependencies
  • Assist Enterprise Stakeholders with defining Capabilities and Initiatives, KPIs, and Objectives
  • Facilitate team or enterprise-wide collaboration sessions in-person or remotely with up to a few hundred participants, as needed
  • Create, or assist with creating, Agile presentations and how-to guides, proofreading for correctness and ensuring proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation prior to release to customer
  • Conduct remote and/or in-person Agile product demonstrations, as required
  • Collaborate directly with teams in person and over MS Teams calls, chat or email to understand any concerns and gather feedback or requirements
  • Coordinate appropriate meeting times with teammates, send a MS Teams invite, and join calls on-time, scheduling and attending follow-up meetings as needed
  • Maintain professional communications and appearance with customers and team members, responding to emails and participating in MS Teams calls and onsite events appropriately
  • Attend daily stand-ups (DSUs), Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and any other team meetings on time
  • Manage individual daily work tasks within a Jira board
  • Other duties as assigned
