The senior advisor, Retail Food Safety serves as a strategic partner to regional operations leaders in the Southeast Region, working closely with food safety professionals across North America. This role leverages deep knowledge of public health and food safety to collaborate with local regulatory authorities, interpret and clarify food code requirements, and provide guidance to Regional Vice Presidents, Regional Directors, and cross-functional teams. The advisor drives food safety excellence across company-operated coffeehouses, ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in General Science, Food Science, Food Safety, Culinary Arts, Environmental Public Health, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a multi-unit food service environment with knowledge of retail or restaurant operations and food safety regulatory requirements
  • Ability to prepare concise verbal, written, and visual presentations for leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the agility to navigate complex business dynamics

Responsibilities

  • Provide Food Safety data that identifies areas of opportunity and consult on solutions to elevate performance
  • Story-tell through data analysis and influence without authority
  • Interpret public health and food safety regulations, standards, and procedures
  • Build relationships with local and state regulatory authorities to clarify interpretation and resolve issues
  • Advise cross-functional leaders and provide in-store retail operations support to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement
  • Proactively analyze retail public health, food safety, and operational data to provide coaching
  • Escalate issues to leadership and communicate improvement strategies
  • Stay current on industry trends and adapt to learn new areas of the business
  • Demonstrate business acumen and ability to generate actionable insights from multiple data sources
  • Influence with intent to ensure partners adhere to Starbucks food safety standards
  • Communicate with leaders and regulatory agencies
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and dynamic environments

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
