About The Position

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role provides leadership to the AP team, drives process improvements, and ensures compliance with company policies and financial regulations.

Requirements

Experience in a high volume Accounts Payable environment required
1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Working experience with an ERP system; Sage experience is a plus
Strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple responsibilities
Very energetic team player with the ability to work with little supervision
Must be able to work well in a high pressure, fast paced environment
Must be able to adapt to changing priorities throughout workday
Able to work a full 40 hour work week

Distribution Industry experience a plus

Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounts payable team
Assign workloads and monitor team performance to meet deadlines
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching
Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
Oversee the end-to-end AP process, including invoice receipt, coding, approval, and payment
Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments
Review and approve high-value or complex transactions
Maintain accurate AP records and documentation
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors
Resolve escalated vendor inquiries and discrepancies
Ensure vendor accounts are reconciled regularly
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automation within AP processes
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations
Prepare AP reports, aging reports, and metrics for management
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggest improvements
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
