About The Position

The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing advanced accounting tasks that support the execution and oversight of core financial operations, including complex reconciliations, payables management, and month‑end close activities. This role independently researches and resolves accounting issues to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The position also provides guidance, mentoring, and review of work for junior staff and may assist in coordinating day‑to‑day accounting workflows.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting or ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and accounts receivable in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute advanced accounts payable functions, including vendor setup validation, payment processing, and issue resolution.
  • Review and verify expense reports, corporate card activity, and other financial transactions to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, review project‑related financial adjustments, and ensure all data is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timelines.
  • Support the month‑end close process by preparing automated bank entries, corporate card statements, and other recurring financial transactions.
  • Analyze accounting data to identify discrepancies, research exceptions, and resolve issues independently.
  • Assist in preparing financial schedules and reports for internal stakeholders and external reporting needs.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by compiling documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and work review for lower‑level accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across accounting processes.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by identifying optimization opportunities and recommending best practices to strengthen financial operations.
