About The Position

The Senior Accounting Manager is accountable for developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures for Greater Houston Retailers Cooperative Association, Inc. and its subsidiaries. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical accounting expertise, and experience managing consolidated financial reporting, intercompany transactions, tax compliance, and financial analysis. The Senior Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leadership, external auditors, accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and operational efficiency. Primary Responsibility: Responsible for preparation of financial reports, accounting activities, and implementing cash management strategies for all entities and development and management of the entire accounting team.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of employee and human resource management
  • 2-3 years experience in accounting or finance management
  • Excellent analytical skills and insight
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience
  • Should have an outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with accounting software (NetSuite, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Directly manages the accounting team
  • Supervises operations of accounting activities
  • Develops and implements controls for accounting procedures and systems
  • Maintains all documents related to the accounting function
  • Prepares financial reports
  • Identifies and resolves accounting issues
  • Produces, collects and analyzes financial information
  • Develops financial models and analyses
  • Manages the preparation of the company's budget
  • Takes part in decisions related to corporate financing
  • Manages tax returns, financial statements and period closings
  • Prepares verification audits and coordinate auditor activities
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Responsible for all day-to-day treasury functions
  • Maintains banking relationships
  • Manages requests for the annual audit with CPA firm; responsible for any other ad-hoc audit requests
  • Assists in determining the company's proper capital structure
  • Engages in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company
  • Collaborating with IT department to maintain financial records and system processes
  • Creates additional analyses and reports as requested by management
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
