About The Position

Kearney & Company is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Lead to join our team. The Senior Accounting Lead will oversee the quality control review function of audit requests for a financial statements audit at a Federal Government Agency. This position requires great attention to detail, mastery of process documentation, risk assessment, data analysis, communication and writing skills. Additional skills and responsibilities are defined below:

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum 6 years of combined working knowledge of accounting practices and requirements of accounting standards established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CPA required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience in researching accounting guidance and writing accounting policy documents
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (requires US Citizenship)

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated understanding of the core requirements of SOX
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the auditing standards under PCAOB and GAGAS
  • MBA/MS degree from an accredited college/university

Responsibilities

  • Provide the first line of supervision to a team of accounting professionals and support staff
  • Responsible for the general oversight of the quality control function, including overall workpaper review
  • Self-starter, takes the initiative to deliver quality work products to the client with little direction from supervisor
  • Supervise and review work performed by other staff
  • Develop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staff
  • Provide subject matter technical expertise to delivery team in financial management areas of financial reporting, internal control, and/or financial business systems
  • Review draft deliverables prepared by engagement teams and present final results to management
  • Assist Partners and Senior Managers in the creation of proposals, business development, and practice administration
  • Utilize technology to share knowledge with team members, develop skills, and continually learn
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Project management experience
