About The Position

The mission of Hearst Health is to guide healthcare organizations by delivering essential intelligence and software that improve the quality, safety and efficiency of care. We are looking for a detail-driven and motivated Senior Accountant to join our centralized Hearst Health accounting team supporting both corporate and business unit operations. This role offers an opportunity to build deep expertise in core accounting processes while gaining exposure to a broad range of financial responsibilities across our collection of six software solution businesses. The ideal candidate will be CPA-certified who is grounded in, and passionate about, the fundamentals of GAAP accounting. Candidate is eager to grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, that embraces the future of AI use within the accounting function. The position offers a flexible hybrid schedule with office days located at the Hearst Health business office in Charlotte, NC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree a plus.
  • CPA required (active license)
  • Minimum 2+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably with exposure to public accounting or corporate accounting (Big 4 experience is a plus).
  • Strong foundation in journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (Oracle Cloud ERP experience preferred).
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the preparation and posting of journal entries with accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger account analysis across multiple subledgers.
  • Maintain a portion of the month-end close checklist and other project timelines to meet multiple accounting deadlines
  • Partner with finance teams across business units to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting.
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Research, summarize, and communicate technical accounting treatment of transactions
  • Support the implementation of new accounting standards and processes across business units
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of procedures, controls, and key transactions via written memos or detailed workpapers
  • Be a champion of innovation and change within the local team and larger finance organization to optimize processes and reduce manual accounting work
  • Utilize multiple accounting & reporting tools simultaneously to perform job responsibilities
  • Perform relevant ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed
