Why Join Monterey Mushrooms? We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting functions and ensure the integrity of our financial data. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional capable of managing complex financial tasks, ensuring GAAP compliance, and leveraging large-scale ERP systems to streamline financial reporting and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a senior-level role.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting principles.
  • Mastery of advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Active CPA license or plans to obtain one.
  • Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm).
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Oracle or JD Edwards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Lead and execute the month-end and year-end close processes for multiple entities and currencies.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Handle intercompany accounting and eliminations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, variance analysis reports, and ad-hoc financial analytics.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
  • Assist with external and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
