About The Position

Overall: Under limited supervision, ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Our Hybrid Work Program: To create vibrancy and foster collaboration, while providing for hours spent working from home, we have implemented a hybrid work schedule. We work from the office in Poway on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Fridays are spent working from home. Team members can always work more hours in the office, if they choose.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent and 4 or more years in general accounting experience or related experience.
  • Background and experience must include demonstrated proficiency with the following:
  • Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Calculating complex transactions, such as rebates, commissions, and bonuses
  • Analysis of budget to actual variances
  • Financial Statement Preparation
  • Transactional Research and Analysis
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

  • Proficiency in the use of software applications (ACCPAC / Sage 300), MRP / ERP databases, Tableau, Excel spreadsheets (expert level), Outlook, Power Point and Word (intermediate level) required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Assists with month-end and year-end close processes. Including calculations, research, and preparation of complex journal entries.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies. Able to investigate and resolve complex reconciliation discrepancies, often requiring cross-functional coordination with other departments.
  • Responsible for intercompany transactions, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Develops and/or updates reconciliation templates and automate reconciliation procedures where possible.
  • Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
  • Assists with financial statement consolidation processes for multi-entity or multinational operations.
  • Participates in the year-end Financial Audit and any income tax audits. Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails for reconciliations and corrections, supporting internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ad Hoc projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of Chef Works business process, products, customers, vendors, and other relevant information , to better understand how the position fits and where they can add value.
  • Monitors and stays abreast of industry standards and operational changes which impact Chef Works financial success. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Meets quality, productivity, and technical requirements of the Senior Accountant.
