About The Position

As Lutheran Services Carolinas continues to grow and expand its programs and services, our Finance team is also expanding to support this important work. The Senior Accountant position plays a key role in supporting the organization’s financial operations through accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. This role contributes to strong fiscal stewardship while upholding Lutheran Services Carolinas’ mission, values, and commitment to serving individuals and communities with integrity and compassion. The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for general accounting duties for all LSC facilities.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field or equivalent of years of experience.
• Minimum of five years in Accounting.
• Attention to detail and follow through.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills and working relationships.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, other databases and other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Email).

Nice To Haves

• Experience with general ledger and non-profit accounting.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for accounting activities to include but not limited to preparation and posting of journal entries, analyze account reconciliations, including bank accounts; audit allocations to subsidiaries and programs, processing of month-end and year end closing tasks, etc.
• Coordination of fixed asset responsibilities: maintain fixed assets ledgers, reconcile to general ledgers, and review/update detailed schedules of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
• Reconcile cash and investment accounts.
• Support in generating and reviewing monthly financial statements.
• Deliver projected annual depreciation for budgets.
• Conduct annual analysis and reporting as requested by management as needed from year to year.
• Generate audit schedules and roll-forward reports.
• Analyze and report data as requested by management.
• Participate in facilitating successful internal and external audits.
• Gather relevant information and issue IRS forms w-2.
• Manage ad hoc financial reporting requests and special projects as requested, including completion of industry surveys and claims for sales tax refunds.
• Assist with maintaining the integrity of the financial information systems and sub-ledgers and ensuring compliance with GAAP, company internal control policies and procedures and identify areas for improvement and consistency of the financial systems
• All other duties as assigned
