About The Position

Distinguished is a leading national insurance Program Manager providing specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents with specific expertise in Real Estate, Community Associations, Hospitality, Fine Art/Collectibles, Executive Lines, Environmental, Surety, Restaurants, and more. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with deep expertise in Workday Financials to join our Accounting & Finance team. This role is responsible for managing core accounting activities, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, optimizing Workday functionality, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience with Workday Financials
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis, modeling)
  • Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Lead the month-end close process to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Maintain and analyze the general ledger and financial statements
  • Support audit activities by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to inquiries
  • Support the annual budgeting process, including data collection, validation, and consolidation
  • Partner with department leaders to guide budget development and review spending trends
  • Prepare variance analyses and assist with periodic forecasting updates
  • Utilize Workday reporting and planning tools to improve budgeting accuracy and visibility
  • Serve as the Finance team’s subject matter expert for Workday
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Workday modules
  • Train team members on Workday functionality and best practices
