About The Position

Survival Flight is seeking a highly experienced and operationally focused Experienced Accountant to support the financial management of a growing, multi-state EMS organization. This role is based in our Chandler, Arizona billing office and requires a hands-on leader with strong expertise in healthcare finance. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the medical/healthcare industry, with a strong preference for those who understand the financial complexities of EMS air and ground transport operations, including reimbursement models, billing, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with the CFO and executive leadership team to ensure financial integrity, optimize performance, and support strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Direct experience in the medical/healthcare industry
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online (accounting systems)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in EMS (Air and Ground) or healthcare transport services
  • Experience with healthcare reimbursement models (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers)
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle management and medical billing operations
  • Experience in multi-location or multi-state organizations
  • ERP system experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including healthcare-specific financial requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Working with multiple entities all under one consolidated reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights into executive leadership
  • Support revenue cycle oversight, including collaboration with billing teams on collections, denials, and payer trends
  • Monitor cash flow, cost controls, and operational efficiencies across service lines
  • Assist with audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support multi-entity and multi-state financial operations
