About The Position

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller to assist with accurate financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also assist to accurately account for the billing and cost of assigned projects. This is a key role at the Berg Group, providing great customer service to our Project Management team, General Contractors and Suppliers.

Requirements

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of Cost Accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management orientation
  • Possesses the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Acts with a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or relevant work experience.
  • 2-4 years of related experience in accounting.
  • Detail-oriented, deadline/goal-driven.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction accounting (general contractor or specialty sub-contractor) a plus
  • Sales tax experience a plus
  • Plexxis software experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month end journal entries.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Deposit daily cash receipts and ensure accurate application to outstanding invoices
  • Make customer inquiries on past due accounts (phone, email, and tracking)
  • Work with the internal Project Management Teams to assist with monthly billings
  • Issue invoices and monthly statements
  • Research and resolve problems to ensure timely and accurate billing
  • Develop and maintain lien documentation on portfolio of current projects
  • Approval of contracts/change orders/budgets
  • Work with project managers to reclass miscoded job expenses
  • Perform credit references for potential new clients
  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice entry and purchase order matching
  • Issue timely and accurate weekly and monthly reports
  • Provide quality customer service to our internal and external clients
  • Look for and establish opportunities to streamline and optimize processes
  • Other special projects as assigned
