About The Position

As the Senior Accountant, you will lead the implementation of new accounting processes related to projects at the Bank. You will assume responsibility for maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records for all companies within the organizational structure of First Internet Bank and preparing financial statements and reports. Additionally, you will play a key role in month-end closing duties and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • A minimum of five years of prior accounting or finance experience; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Capable of prioritizing and organizing work to meet established deadlines
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and understand the company’s systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with other staff, managers, and department leaders
  • Capacity and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Prior banking/financial services work-related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate accounting records and internal controls for the accounting function
  • Develops and implements new accounting processes, procedures and controls as necessary
  • Maintains the fixed asset system by recording newly acquired assets and tracking existing assets
  • Monitors and records accruals and prepaid expenses
  • Leads various projects as assigned by management including but not limited to new system implementations, setup of new products, and/or coordination of new services
  • Prepares daily journal entries and monitoring of general ledger accounts
  • Prepares various regulatory reports including the Call Report, Y-9 and other regulatory reporting schedules
  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations
  • Independently identifies, researches, resolves, and explains any exceptions within the reconciliation process
  • Performs a review of accounts payable processing for appropriate documentation and approval and occasionally process accounts payable transactions
  • Identifies process improvements and implement enhanced processes
  • Adheres to established accounting policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
