About The Position

We are seeking a diligent and hard-working Senior Accountant with a strong background in technical accounting. The Senior Accountant will oversee critical financial functions, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), supporting audits, and interacting professionally with upper management. This role is best suited for someone who is driven, upbeat, and has an in-depth understanding of percent of completion accounting and experience researching state sales/use tax complexities. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Master’s degree in Accounting is a plus.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for commercial construction accounting. Prior public accounting experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports.
  • Experience with accounting research, financial audits, and tax compliance.
  • Understanding of GAAP and ability to ensure compliance in all financial operations.
  • Certifications: CPA license or public accounting experience is not required but preferred. Strong financial acumen is essential.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activity.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports, and other ad hoc reports.
  • Assist in financial, insurance, and 401k audits
  • Tax research and analysis focusing on local and state sales tax.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and support the Controller with financial planning and decision-making.
  • Implement and manage ERP systems and other financial software tools to optimize accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with upper management and external parties to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with large commercial construction contracts.
