PHINIA is looking for a Senior Accountant to support financial close processes, handle high-risk journal entries, and assist with audit schedules and inquiries in our Auburn Hills location

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, OneStream).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts and manage general ledger operations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor PHINIA internal controls and recommend improvements to accounting procedures.
  • Assist with tax compliance and liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with a focus on high-risk and non-standard journal entries.
  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries regarding significant estimates and assumptions.
