Visit our website to learn more. Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities: This is a high-impact finance role at the heart of our Canadian operations, offering the opportunity to shape financial performance, influence decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across the business. You will take ownership of financial reporting, partner closely with the General Manager and Senior leadership team, and play a key role in strengthening controls, enhancing processes, and delivering valuable insights to executive stakeholders. Ideal for a proactive and commercially minded finance professional, this role provides strong visibility, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Role includes long periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA, CMA, MBA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded international company.
  • Proven background of working in a Senior Accountant finance role and technical knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Statutory filings.
  • Proven ability to manage complex financial transactions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel with large ERP experience (Microsoft AX is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Management Accounts Preparation and submission: You will adhere to all IFRS reporting requirements and internal deadlines to submit accurate and timely financial statements and associated supporting schedules. You will ensure regular professional development with all external standards and internal updates on financial requirements.
  • Performance Management: You will monitor, analyse and report on key performance indicators and deliver an overview of monthly performance vs targets to department heads. You will help the Operations team to identify risk and growth opportunities.
  • Month End Close: You will work closely with the North America accounting team to ensure all month end close activities are recorded accurately. You will be responsible for Fixed and Leased Assets Accounting, Inventory, Costing and Intercompany Reconciliations for our Canadian operations.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts in line with internal controls, investigating and resolving variances when they arise.
  • Performance Management: You will monitor, analyse and report on key performance indicators and deliver an overview of monthly performance vs targets to department heads. You will help the Operations team to identify risk and growth opportunities.
  • Forecasting: You will partner with North America FP&A function to develop financial information to create robust and accurate forecasts and perform regular analysis of variances to plan.
  • Internal Controls: You will take the lead in supporting Spirax Group internal audits and internal controls testing to successful outcomes. You will maintain and improve the current Internal Controls system, implementing best practices.
  • Data Governance: Your keen attention to detail will help drive the team and wider company in strong data governance around customer and sales data to help ensure accurate financial transactions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review, analyze and audit all current processes to continuously help the business streamline operations and enhance efficiency in the team, in finance and in the wider Canadian team.
  • Tax and Compliance: You will assist when required in the timely and,accurateand accurate Canadian Federal and Provincial statutory filings including but not limited to income tax, sales tax, workers compensation and payroll tax.
  • Other duties: You will collaborate with the accounting team in day to day activities for USA operations where required.
