About The Position

The Senior Accountant III - Generation Accounting, supports financial close, reporting, and analysis for Vistra’s generation assets. This role assists with the accounting and reporting related to long term service agreements (LTSA), leases, materials and supplies (M&S) inventory, deferred maintenance, CWIP operating & maintenance (O&M) expenses, nuclear fuel, and/or asset retirement obligations (ARO).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
Process improvement oriented
Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process

Nice To Haves

Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required

Responsibilities

Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls.
Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices.
Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.
Ensures the monthly close process for Vistra’s Generation Assets is timely, complete and accurate, in compliance with US GAAP and other reporting requirements.
Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers of variances between actual results and plan, projection, and prior year.
Collaborates throughout the Company to ensure solid understanding of status generation projects.
