About The Position

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the corporate finance team responsible for accurate financial reporting, robust balance sheet discipline, and timely close execution across multiple entities in the Americas region. The role partners closely with AP/AR, Billing/Credit Control, Payroll/HR, Tax, and external auditors to ensure compliance with Ocorian Group standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)., strong cash stewardship, and on time statutory and regulatory deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or Finance with strong accounting emphasis).
  • Demonstrated experience in financial control, statutory financial statements preparation, and working with external auditors; solid knowledge of IFRS and Group policy adherence
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong general systems literacy.
  • Experience of working in a financial control function
  • Experience of working with external auditors.

  • Knowledge of Netsuite preferred
  • CPA or currently sitting for CPA license is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year end close activities in line with the Group Finance calendar; supported by the Global Accounting Team in Mauritius, prepare journals, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and lease entries; complete high quality balance sheet reconciliations with clear support and variance commentary.
  • Uphold the financial control environment for assigned entities; ensure controls operate as intended and documentation is current.
  • Prepare/review consolidation support and intercompany reconciliations; drive timely settlement of intercompany balances consistent with Group standards
  • Prepare and maintain the rolling 13‑week cash flow forecast and support liquidity planning and funding requests.
  • Maintain strong cash controls; perform and review bank reconciliations; support timely surplus cash remittances to Group Finance.
  • Partner with the global Credit Control Team in Belfast & Mauritius to monitor collections, resolve disputes, and reduce aged receivables; update and validate bad debt provision in line with Group standards and IFRS.
  • Coordinate with the Billing teams in Mauritius to ensure client invoices are issued accurately and on schedule; oversee cash application
  • Working with the Global Accounting Team in Mauritius, ensure timely vendor payments and staff expenses.
  • Partner with HR/Global Payroll to validate payroll postings and reconciliations for assigned entities.
  • Ensure adherence to Group accounting policies and IFRS; prepare technical memos and support for accounting positions where needed.
  • Prepare draft statutory financial statements, tax packs/returns inputs, and other required regulatory and capital returns; ensure all filings and payments (including government fees) are made on time and accounts remain reconciled.
  • Compile periodic financial information and board packs for regulated entities as requested.
  • For Audit, serve as a primary preparer for PBC requests; coordinate samples, walkthroughs, and responses for local audits and support Group audits; remediate audit points promptly.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to close, reconciliations, billing/cash application, and reporting processes; standardize templates and checklists to drive efficiency and consistency across entities.
  • Build finance team NetSuite awareness to improve alignment with operational/fund processes that interact with corporate accounting.
  • Review all finance processes for the Americas and ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively and in line with Group standards.
  • Ensure finance team in Mauritius has an appropriate understanding of NetSuite
  • Support continuous improvement of finance processes.
  • Act as change champion for finance in the Americas region.
