About The Position

Position Summary Under the general direction of the Fixed Assets Manager, the Senior Accountant performs complex accounting work and/or directs the work of other accountants in support of accounting functions including Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Advances for construction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Detail oriented, ability to work independently, analytical and highly organized.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to perform simple to moderately complex accounting activities.
  • Skill in making arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy, preparing clear, accurate and concise reports and correspondence.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or other related field.
  • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Two to four years of professional level accounting experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and ERP financial accounting systems is desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with JE Edwards E1 and/or PowerPlan is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various day-to-day activities for maintaining Fixed Assets in the subledger.
  • Ensuring Asset additions, retirements, reclasses, and transfers are processed timely and accurately to the correct work orders.
  • Assist Fixed Asset accounting staff with reclasses, transfers, and miscellaneous adjustments.
  • Support national team on fixed assets tasks, ad-hoc requests, and special projects.
  • Audit work orders charges to ensure accuracy of coding and variance analysis.
  • Upon completion of a capital project, review classification of accounts for proper asset useful lives and depreciation.
  • Liaison with multi-departments for document support and project inquiries.
  • Ensure SOX compliance with key controls and accurate GAAP financial reporting, fulfilling internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Prepares journal entries and assists in month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting; posts, balances, and reconciles the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
  • Analyze accounting data in the capital asset system, subsidiary, and general ledger to review and highlight variances, trends, exceptions and discrepancies, taking action as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure accuracy of accounting treatment, records, and policy compliance.
  • Provide support for regulatory filings including Rate cases and data requests.
  • Provide support for tax reporting including property taxes, tax filings, and tax audits support.
  • Prepare various audit schedules and provide documentation to auditors as necessary.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting including Rollforwards and account analysis for cash flow and footnotes.
