The Role Xos is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting & GL Accounting to join our Finance and Accounting team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy of our financial records, supporting monthly and quarterly close activities, and contributing to both internal and external financial reporting. You'll assist with SEC reporting, technical accounting research, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments, enhance accounting processes, and help drive continuous improvement. This is an on-site based role at our Los Angeles, CA HQ, offering a hybrid work model with more days in office

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting or a public company environment
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment to drive progress and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, with familiarity in SEC reporting and technical accounting concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Proactive approach; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or active CPA candidate preferred
  • Prior experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data within the general ledger.
  • Maintain and document accounting processes, controls, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing account balances and financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Assist with preparation of schedules and documentation for SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.)
  • Provide support analysis for internal management reporting and financial reviews.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance explanations.
  • Assist with various model and cash forecasting initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Assist in researching and implementing new accounting standards and guidance.
  • Support internal and external audits requests, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging accounting and reporting standards and assess their impact on the company.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes and close timelines
  • Support implementation and maintenance of financial reporting systems, including Netsuite and reporting tools.
  • Participate in special projects, system integrations, and process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
