About The Position

The Senior Accountant – Development role requires a diligent, detail-oriented professional who can effectively multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. This position reports directly to the Development Controller. The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting backgrounds with intermediate level of experience, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and preferably has experience in the real estate industry. The Senior Accountant – Development must be highly organized, able to manage multiple deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams. This individual should be energetic, dependable, and flexible, with a willingness to work additional hours when necessary, sometimes on short notice, and demonstrate a strong team-oriented mindset.

  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences and delays.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of intermediate level experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Real Estate accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review 10–15 monthly construction draw packages for construction-in-progress properties, ensuring accuracy of sources and uses and compliance with loan documents and limited partnership agreements.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Review general ledger entries for accuracy and completeness; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee invoice processing and timely vendor payments, maintaining strong vendor relationships and adherence to internal controls and company policies.
  • Reconcile various bank accounts and manage the cash flow of assigned properties.
  • Provide audit and tax support, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Prepare equity and construction loan closing draws and record property acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction accounting, corporate accounting and management accounting, to ensure smooth financial operations
