About The Position

The Sr Accountant/Controller is responsible for leading the accounting function for a manufacturing organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely monthly close, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, supports manufacturing and cost accounting activities, and partners with operations and leadership to drive financial discipline and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Accounting; MBA or Master's in Accounting preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a manufacturing environment, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Expert-level QuickBooks and Excel skills, with proficiency in an ERP system.
  • Demonstrable expertise in cost accounting, month-end close, internal controls, and cash flow management.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience is recommended. This should include at least 3 to 5 years specifically within a manufacturing environment, focusing on cost accounting and inventory management
  • Cost Accounting: Deep expertise in standard costing, variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation is mandatory. The candidate must be able to quantify inventory from plant floor counts and maintain accurate unit pricing.
  • Financial Reporting & Close Process: Proven ability to lead the monthly close process, prepare journal entries (accruals, prepaids, payroll), complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and assist in the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: The candidate must have experience in establishing and maintaining strong internal controls, including auditing user permissions in financial systems and ensuring vendor tax and insurance compliance.
  • Cash Management: Demonstrated ability to perform daily cash reconciliations and maintain detailed cash flow projections is a core responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise outsourced AP Specialist
  • Approve Vendors once all documentation has been received
  • Review and approve credit card charges
  • Sync transactions with Quickbooks
  • Accrue and Pay Referral Fees timely
  • Maintain vendor insurance compliance (COIs)
  • Release payment for approved payables in Ramp weekly
  • Supervise AR Specialist
  • Review accounts for collection and take appropriate action to collect past due balances
  • Assist with collection of open AR
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation
  • Maintain Cash Flow Projection in Smart Sheets
  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, payroll, inventory, and manufacturing variances
  • Prepare bank, loan and credit card reconciliations
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to identify and correct posting errors
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support quarterly and year-end close activities
  • Quantify inventory using inventory counts from the plant floor
  • Maintain current inventory unit pricing
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Resolve stale transactions in cash accounts
  • Audit existing vendors for tax and COI compliance
  • Audit permission of users in QB and recommend changes to establish controls
