About The Position

As a senior academic advisor in UNLV’s Lee Business School Undergraduate Advising office, this individual is part of a team of professionals who work in support of the college’s and university’s missions. An essential part of this is to provide information and guidance to students to assist them in defining and achieving their educational and life goals while adhering to university and college academic requirements and standards. The senior academic advisor position will have a particular focus on at-risk students and implementation of interventions to further UNLV’s Progression, Retention, and Completion initiative. The senior academic advisor will participate in student-related interactions from recruitment through graduation. These activities may include, but are not limited to: Participating in recruiting events; Providing academic guidance to students via appointments, e-mail, presentations, information sessions; Providing students with resource referrals to other campus offices as needed; Creating, editing, and disseminating information for handouts, web site, catalog, etc.; Reviewing and processing paperwork students submit for review; Maintaining relationships with colleagues on campus and at other Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions; Maintaining relationships with the college’s department chairs and faculty; As needed, serve as an informational resource to the college’s deans, department chairs, faculty and staff regarding academic policies and administrative procedures; Participate in UNLV’s Academic Advising Council The senior academic advisor may also create, edit, and disseminate information for handouts, web site, catalog, etc. They may also be responsible for academic intervention programs, at-risk students, group advising coordination, and prospective student advising and outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Three years of related professional experience
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
