About The Position

Provides basic maintenance and repair to structures, facilities, and equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment. Performs basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities, and equipment, i.e. housekeeping activities, fabrication and installations, routine cleaning and servicing of vehicles, and cement mixing and preparation. Operates power and hand tool equipment. Performs painting, roofing, carpentry, and plumbing activities. May operate vehicles to and from work locations. Ensure equipment is maintained and in safe working conditions daily. Communicate with all co-workers, supervisors, upper management, and other entities, to ensure all work is accomplished. Performs additional miscellaneous assignments as required in the collection system.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling.
• Six months of working experience are required.
• Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving.

• Preference will be given to applicants with High School Diploma or GED.
• Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
