About The Position

Essential Functions · Knowledge of the materials, methods, procedures, tools and equipment appropriate to the operation area to which assigned. · Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in the area of work assignment. · Evaluate the condition of ground cover, plants, shrubs and trees to determine the need for applying pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer. · Prepares annual schedule for preventive applications of pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer. · Inventories and maintains supplies relating to licensed application of pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer. · Prepares and maintains application logs in compliance with Federal/State guidelines. · Applies and directly supervises the application of pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer used on campus. · Operate any/all equipment used in grounds maintenance. · Ability to perform tasks requiring mechanical aptitude. · Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled and maintenance tasks. · Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. · Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. frequently, 100 lbs. occasionally and 100+ lbs. with assistance to move heavy objects and to work under adverse weather conditions. · Ability to perform moderately strenuous tasks. · Good physical condition to permit long hours of outdoor physical labor. · Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. · Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with superiors and other employees. · Follow verbal and written instruction. · Snow removal · Lift, climb, bend and kneel in order to complete assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience in grounds keeping work or equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Certified as a pesticide applicator with core and category 23 requirements.
