Under general direction of the Senior Aviation Security Compliance Manager, this role is responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training programs for aviation security personnel, focusing on field operations and regulatory compliance. Main responsibilities include selecting effective training methodologies, creating curriculum, and developing instructional materials. Familiar with the basics of the DFW Airport Security Program (ASP) and applicable Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security regulations, to ensure training supports regulatory compliance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, aviation management, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in developing training curriculum/materials
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Citizenship of the United States of America.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Has not been convicted of a Class “B” misdemeanor within the last ten years or any offense greater than a Class “B”.
  • Ability to work all shifts and days of the week including holidays when needed
  • Knowledge of security related issues.
  • Knowledge of the Airport Security Plan (ASP).
  • Ability to prepare lesson plans, develops curriculum and conduct training classes.
  • Ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer and associated programs.
  • Ability to receive and process information of a sensitive or confidential nature with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to train and supervise employees.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the Airport Board’s safety, security and fire protection policies when performing assigned work on Airport property.
  • Ability to pass mandatory TSA required security training.
  • Ability to complete all mandatory training.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background investigation.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and work to under time pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to present a positive image for the department and organization.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at a Category X or I Airport in airport security, training, or operations that performed one or more of the following duties: maintained a compliance program (Airport Security Program, Airport Certified Manual)
  • Security Supervisory experience of an operation that performed one or more of the following duties: staffing a fixed post, vehicle inspections, verifying access media, roving foot patrols, roving vehicle patrols.
  • Security or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with senior security leadership to assess and implement training needs, ensuring all employees are proficient with the DFW Airport Security Program and CFR 1542 regulations.
  • Takes ownership of developing, managing, and delivering comprehensive training programs for security personnel, utilizing training techniques, adult learning principles, and effective facilitation skills; coordinates the facilities, materials and equipment required for training programs.
  • Works closely with aviation security senior leadership to effectively plan priorities and resources within the training and development function.
  • Develops new/or adapts instructional materials, skill building and role-playing exercises, case studies, handouts and other material relevant to individuals training needs.
  • Maintains and nurtures working relationships with educational partners, industry associations, consultants, airport stakeholders, and other DPS training sections to enhance training quality.
  • Manages, facilitates, administers, and participates in the best practice research, design, development, and evaluation of security training programs.
  • Oversees the New Employee Training Program, facilitating a smooth and effective transition for new employees into their roles.
  • Designs and delivers recurrent training modules and knowledge assessments, ensuring ongoing proficiency and compliance among security personnel.
  • Creates and conducts recurrent training modules and knowledge testing.
  • Identifies and addresses performance and training gaps, providing targeted training as necessary to maintain high standards of security.
  • Monitors and tracks personnel training progress, providing regular metrics and updates to senior security leadership to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborates with “subject matter experts” for the effective development, coordination, and presentation of training and development programs for security personnel.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
