Job Summary: The Security Systems Sales Engineer is responsible for designing security system solutions, preparing proposals and pricing, and closing sales from qualified inbound leads. This role serves as a trusted technical and consultative advisor to prospective customers, translating their needs into effective, compliant, security solutions and managing the proposal process through closing.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of experience in electronic security system design, estimating, or technical sales.
  • Strong working knowledge of security systems (e.g. CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, networking basics)
  • Experience designing systems and preparing technical proposals and quotes
  • Proven ability to close sales in a consultative, inbound‑driven environment
  • Strong consultative communication skills with customers.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into clear system proposals.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications preferred (e.g. Axis or various CCTV systems, Keyscan Access Control, Honeywell Intrusion)
  • Experience supporting commercial, enterprise, or regulated environments
  • Basic understanding of IP networking and system integration

Responsibilities

  • Respond to company-generated leads and customer inquiries regarding security system design and installations.
  • Meet with customers to understand security requirements, facility layout, operational needs, and risk concerns.
  • Conduct on-site security assessments and site surveys.
  • Develop recommended system solutions based on customer needs and building conditions.
  • Present proposed solutions and guide customers through the selection process.
  • Manage the opportunity through proposal, revision, and closing of the sale.
  • Design integrated electronic security systems including: Access control systems Video surveillance (CCTV / IP cameras) Intrusion / burglar alarm systems Intercoms Gate arm barriers Mechanical/Electronic Locking hardware Auto door operators
  • Select appropriate equipment, system architecture, and integration platforms.
  • Prepare system layouts, device counts, and bill of materials.
  • Produce system drawings, riser diagrams, and device placement plans when required.
  • Ensure designs comply with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and company installation standards.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and project proposals.
  • Develop clear scopes of work including system specifications and installation requirements.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing and achievable installation plans.
  • Present proposals to customers and respond to technical and commercial questions.
  • Revise designs and proposals as needed to align with customer feedback.
  • Manage assigned sales opportunities from initial consultation through project award.
  • Maintain communication with customers during the proposal process.
  • Coordinate internally with project management, operations, and installation teams.
  • Track and update opportunity status within company CRM systems.
  • Provide complete documentation to project management and installation teams after a project is sold.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to ensure clear understanding of system design.
  • Provide technical clarification or support during installation when necessary.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of electronic security technologies, platforms, and manufacturers.
  • Stay current on emerging security technologies, integration platforms, and best practices.
  • Perform additional projects and responsibilities
