About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Security Supervisor supports the safety and security of Nexus Family Recovery Center’s clients and staff. Managing a team of Security Guards, the Security Supervisor is a conscientious, detail-oriented leader skilled in deescalation, campus monitoring, and team leadership. The Security Supervisor works with staff and leadership to create a physically and emotionally safe environment for the Nexus community, using trauma-informed practices.

Requirements

  • Superior communication skills; the ability to communicate in writing, in person, and in virtual spaces clearly and appropriately with internal staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience and skill for collaborating in an office environment, with high competence working in Microsoft Outlook and other computer systems. Ability to manage e-mail and ticketing systems and adapt to changes in a digital environment.
  • Able to learn and manage Nexus security systems, including GuardMetrics, Brivo, and EagleEye.
  • Ability to set performance expectations, requirements with the ability to provide feedback to staff in a respectful manner. Ability to build a team-orientated environment for the Security Team. Ability to complete hands-on security-related tasks, including completing campus patrols.
  • Day-to-day management of an Security Team in a residential environment.
  • Basic understanding and experience with security practices.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Joint Commission life safety standards, HHSC standards relating to campus security, and HIPPA Compliance, and Employee & Client Confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity and ability to work with people of various races, cultures, personal orientation, and socioeconomic levels.
  • Ability to provide services in line with Nexus Core Values of Respect, Compassion and Integrity.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent professional experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and ensures the training of all members of the Security Team. Ensures adherence to day-to-day operational standards, policy & procedures.
  • Manages scheduling for Security Guards, and establishes and maintains norms for addressing coverage needs when there are scheduling issues.
  • Manages the GuardMetrics system for documenting regular campus tours, including monitoring tour completion for the Security Team.
  • Conducts regular patrols of the campus and monitors for suspicious or illegal activity, and maintains organizational compliance with security standards.
  • Conducts periodic campus-wide mock drills for security-related scenarios, and documents results and attendance.
  • Conducts vehicle searches for residential client vehicles on campus, and trains staff in procedures.
  • Works with program staff to respond empathetically and de-escalate client behavior.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to unwelcome campus visitors, appropriately de-escalates, deters intruders, and contacts and works with law enforcement as appropriate.
  • Manages the agency’s access control system (Brivo) and surveillance system (EagleEye), including completing the keycard and user management steps for onboarding and offboarding Nexus staff. Works with relevant vendors as needed.
  • Attends all required staff training sessions by Nexus and state licensing requirements and completes all training on time and ensures team attendance.
  • Attends and participates in all staff and leadership meetings.
  • Other duties within the organization as assigned.
