Requirements

  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating team work capabilities
  • Detail oriented, reliable and accurate
  • Must be able to walk campus, 5 to 7 miles per shift, both inside and outside of buildings; regardless of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to deadlift a minimum or 50 1bs, and walk 50 feet.
  • Must have the physical stamina to climb fourteen stories of stairs.
  • Experience in Emergency Dispatch, Safety and Risk Management, preferred.
  • Must have experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Must be able to perform CPR and maintain certification in Heartsaver AED and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of security and loss control functions and techniques.
  • Familiarity with fact-finding and incident reporting techniques.
  • Will be required to remain on campus during inclement weather, i.e. hurricanes, snow storms, etc.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills in the areas of safety and behavior change are required.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills, and Google applications are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a mature population.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current valid driver's license required.

  • As of now, the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine formulation is being distributed to providers and pharmacies; however, it has not yet received official approval from the CDC. In Virginia, pharmacists may administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s statewide protocols or with a direct order from a licensed medical provider. We encourage all new hires to consult with their healthcare provider regarding the most current vaccination recommendations. Responsibilities

  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures semi-annually.
  • Maintain records of required licensing and certifications of security personnel.
  • Ensure timely renewal of licenses and/or certifications of those personnel.
  • Develop and Manage Departmental Budget.
  • Ensure monthly inspection of fire extinguishers and conducts monthly fire drills in accordance with inspection/drill guidelines.
  • Perform monthly Eye Wash Station inspection.
  • Ensure weekly fire inspection of fire doors and fire sprinkler system and ensure quarterly fire inspection of sprinklers, penetration audit, fire/smoke door inspections, and fire department connection inspection.
  • Logging all reports both written and through Works Hub.
  • Schedule Semi-Annual certification fire suppression system, exhaust hood cleaning, inspection electrical equipment auto filters, eye wash station cleaning, and fire blanket inspection.
  • Ensure Bi-annual fire damper inspection.
  • Follow the procedures for fire emergencies, fire department arrival and assistance and evacuation of residents and HCC/ALC patients if required and direct subordinates according to these procedures.
  • Handle and assist with all safety violations for Westminster-Canterbury, reporting safety violations and mechanical problems according to procedures.
  • Know procedure for handling dinner checklist.
  • Develop and train proper procedures for portable radio communications.
  • Monitor issuance of parking tickets and takes action in accordance with procedures.
  • Overall responsibility for assigning parking spaces for all residents and required to maintain a current spreadsheet with all residents' vehicle information along with parking stickers.
  • Responsible for Valet service to residents, guests when visitor parking is full, and any special event where outside valet service has not been arranged.
  • Participate in weekly FYI and other inter-departmental and community meetings as required.
  • Responsible for the surveillance cameras operations, maintenance and its recording device.
  • Responsible for access and key control to Westminster-Canterbury and reviewing the daily logs of both Key Tracer Machines on a daily basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.
