About The Position

Security Specialists provide security risk management guidance pertaining to the protection of advanced technology, make access eligibility determinations in accordance with Navy SAP Nomination Process, and review documentation required for classified information systems in accordance with the current regulations. They may also conduct site surveys and physical security accreditations, interpret current security policies, and implement organization security policies and procedures. Experience in the fields of physical, industrial, information and personnel security planning SAP Security Compliance Inspections and Self-Inspections; leading Investigations of security incidents to include initial reporting and documenting findings in accordance with policy; reviewing and applying governing policy including Executive Orders, DOD Security Directives, the SAP Nomination Process, Intelligence Directives and the JAFAN Series; and communicating orally and in writing to managers, civilians and military contracts across DoD and other agencies. The position is not covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) Davis Bacon Act (DBA), or union. The Security Specialist III provides comprehensive support to the Security Management Team and AEGIS Technical Representative, ensuring the effective execution of all aspects of the Command Security Program. This role is responsible for safeguarding classified and sensitive information while supporting a wide range of security disciplines. Key Responsibilities include: Support the full scope of the Command Security Program, including Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Information Security, Operations Security (OPSEC), Physical Security, Insider Threat Program, and Foreign Disclosure. Ensure proper handling and protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), For Official Use Only (FOUO) information, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Execute day-to-day security operations, including: Visitor control and Visit Authorization Requests (VARs). Badging and access control management. Classified material accountability, distribution, and inventory (internal and external). Classified and sensitive material destruction. Security inspections and compliance support. Preparation and maintenance of security forms, instructions, and notices. Security container records management. Classified mail handling and shipments. Maintain and update security systems and databases (e.g., personnel and facility security systems), ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Generate reports such as reinvestigation tracking, visitor logs, badge issuance, and document/media inventories. Maintain accountability records for classified materials and ensure all documentation complies with applicable policies and procedures. Communicate and enforce applicable security policies and regulations, including Navy security directives, DoD security requirements, and the National Industrial Security Program Manual (NISPOM). Support procurement and tracking of security-related supplies and equipment (e.g., safes, locks, keys). Research security issues and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance. Assist in the development and revision of security documentation, including manuals, instructions, forms, briefings, and presentations. Support the secure shipping, receiving, and disposition of classified materials and equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in security operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, technical, or related field (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) or other Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) certification is strongly preferred.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • The Security Specialist III shall demonstrate capability listed in the key responsibilities, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate problems and project status.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Desired: 15+ years of experience across multiple security disciplines, including Personnel, Physical, Information, Industrial, and Operations Security.
