About The Position

Under general supervision, this position supports the day-to-day operations of the Grant PUD physical security program. A Security Specialist I monitors security systems, coordinates responses to alarms and incidents, and assists with access control and security procedures that protect District employees, facilities, and critical infrastructure. This role regularly performs duties within the District Security Operations Center (DSOC), maintaining situational awareness of District facilities through surveillance systems, alarms, communications, and coordination with contract security personnel, District staff, and emergency responders.

Requirements

  • High School Degree, GED or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of security, military, or Law Enforcement experience.
  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions.
  • Completion of, or have the ability to successfully complete, the following course within one (1) year of hire: Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and surveillance software.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 700 training
  • Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification through ASIS International

Responsibilities

  • Monitor District Security Operations Center (DSOC) systems: including video surveillance, intrusion detection systems, access control alarms, and security communications, to maintain situational awareness of district facilities and identify and report suspicious activity, security concerns, or unusual conditions.
  • Support the protection of District critical infrastructure by identifying security risks, reporting vulnerabilities, and assisting with security measures that help safeguard employees, facilities, and reliable utility operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for security-related requests and questions within the assigned service area.
  • Dispatch and coordinate proprietary and contract security personnel in response to alarms, incidents, service requests, and routine or directed patrol activities across district facilities.
  • Document incidents, alarms, patrol activities, and security events using district reporting and electronic logging systems.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and public safety agencies during security incidents or emergencies.
  • Assist in implementing security procedures related to the Utility’s access control program, including administering and operating the Utilities credentialing and electronic access control badge system for personnel, contractors, and authorized visitors.
  • Issue Utility keys, access devices, badges, and access codes to authorized employees and contractors in accordance with established authorization procedures, the Access Control Policy, and the principle of least privilege.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the Utility’s security systems and communicate effectively with technicians, staff, and engineers to troubleshoot security issues and support effective solutions.
  • Monitor physical access to Critical Infrastructure Protected (CIP) areas and perform required procedures to maintain regulatory compliance, including maintaining documentation and providing guidance to personnel regarding access requirements.
  • Occasionally performs security site assessments of District facilities to observe conditions, identify security concerns or vulnerabilities, and verify that physical security controls are operational, reporting any issues through established reporting channels.
  • Perform a variety of day-to-day security tasks, coordinate security support for customer programs and activities, manage access profiles, and contribute to continuous improvement of the Utility’s security program.
  • This position requires NERC CIP access, and incumbents must meet and maintain eligibility with the established criteria in the Grant PUD Personnel Risk Assessment Procedure.
