About The Position

Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Security Operations Manager for our Security Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Security Operations Manager, you will: • Lead the implementation and monitoring of workplace violence prevention strategies, policies, and response protocols. Track, analyze, and report workplace violence incidents; develop action plans to reduce risk and improve outcomes. • Oversee timely and effective response to safety and security codes (e.g., Codes Silver, Gray, Green, Amber, etc.). Ensure supervisors and officers adhere to response protocols and maintain readiness. Conduct post-incident reviews, after action reporting, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions. • Ensure department operations meet regulatory standards (The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, etc.). Maintain policies, SOPs, and audit processes to ensure continuous readiness. • Manage parking operations, including permits, enforcement, revenue oversight (if applicable), and customer service processes. • Manage departmental reports, logs, OPEX tracking, and administrative workflows. Oversee access control, ID badging, visitor management systems, and contractor access. Ensure accurate incident documentation, timely reporting, and data integrity.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of security operations, patrol procedures, and incident management practices.
  • Understanding of workplace violence prevention strategies, threat assessment principles, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of hospital emergency codes and response protocols (e.g., Code Silver, Gray, Green, Amber, pink).
  • Familiarity with The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements related to healthcare security.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Skilled in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and managing high-stress or volatile situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, patients, visitors, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to train staff, conduct drills, and facilitate learning that improves readiness and performance.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of multiple supervisors and frontline staff across a 24/7 operation.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, welcoming, and equitable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Associate’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field required. HS diploma or GED with 7+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3-5 years of previous security experience required, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • 1-2 years of previous supervisory/management experience required, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
  • Must qualify for a Maryland Special Police Commission (Clean Criminal History required).
